TRENTON —
An Assembly panel approved a measure today aimed at giving residents and
businesses greater protection against government's use of eminent domain
for private redevelopment.
Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee Chairman John
Burzichelli, D-Gloucester, made some changes to his bill, including more
compensation for displaced businesses, language ensuring redevelopers
are subject to the state's pay-to-play laws and requiring that some, but
not all, Affordable housing units are replaced in redevelopment
projects.
The measure passed 6 to 1. Assemblywoman Amy Handlin, R-Monmouth,
opposed it because the bill didn't subject redevelopers to pay-to-play
laws tougher than the state standards.
Traditional supporters of the bill -- which has endured many rapid-fire
changes since it was proposed two weeks ago -- were less enthused, and
critics were less tempered.
Burzichelli, who has held several hearings before and after the measure
was proposed, had dismissed some early criticism by saying the
legislation would change before approval.
"I just think it's part of the process,'' Burzichelli said. "I think
when you finish
something like this, and everybody's a little unhappy, that means you
got it right.''
Burzichelli expects the bill to be approved by the full Assembly
Thursday. It has made no progress in the Senate, where Sen. Ronald Rice,
D-Essex, sponsors a different eminent domain bill that he doesn't expect
to move until after the summer. Thursday the entire assembly
debates the bill... |

NEW JERSEY CHRISTIANS AGAINST EMINENT DOMAIN ABUSE
New
Jersey Resident:
I am
more than positive that I am going to catch a lot of political lambasting on
this email, however... For those of you who have a spiritual life -- please
read on. For those that don't just delete this email.
All responses, remarks and comments will be read.
Property Owners have a major problem, especially those of us in the
state of New Jersey. The two party political system here is morally
bankrupt. The fiscal crisis is the tangible evidence of this condition.
Jon Corzine is just now realizing just how difficult it will be to
straighten out the affairs of New Jersey. He will be tempted more than he
has ever been, to compromise. That is what evil requires, a compromise.
Evil is so subtle, so perverse, it does not need an outright victory, all it
needs is for righteousness to compromise.
This is why politics eventually fails mankind. It is also why
organized religion also fails mankind. Righteousness is so defined that if
it does compromise it is no longer righteous, it is simply moral. Morality
is good, however righteousness is pure, undefiled. Righteousness is truth
where anything less is half truth and heading towards the lies.
Let me also point out, that I do not believe everyone in the State
Legislature is evil. There are a few working for the good of higher power.
We need to identify them and support them throughout the state.
We also need to work with them to accomplish identifying those that
are working against the righteous will of the kingdom of God.
Those of us with a divine conscience, need to assume more
responsibility in the affairs of State. When a believer begins to move
among those that have no true understanding or appreciation of the things of
God, they get hit top side of the head.
There is a force of evil working in American Society Today! I am
not going to preach all that much right now, however this call is the
trumpet. Many people underestimate my conviction and have attempted to keep
my voice suppressed.
I have experienced enormous pressure in Long Branch alone, as I have
struck ground here in 1992. It became an all out battle between God and
The Schneider Administration. So far, God has kept me.
Me winning in the last election was never my issue. Being in it was
my issue. The mere fact that the name KEVIN BROWN appeared on the ballot
was a victory. The fact that it was listed on line one was the humor of God
expressed through it all.
Let me be clear! I am not talking about a Sunday go to church
faith! Ninety percent of America goes to church on Sunday. The devil goes
to church on Sunday. Church has become stagnant in society.
The evidence is very clear. Government works against religion that
has not compromised and conformed to the political whim and prowess of it's
agenda. No wonder planning and zoning boards have been making it more
difficult for groups of believers, who have banded together in peace and
unity to acquire a House of Worship. They fear the true believer.
I expect the pressure to be even greater as we move towards state
affairs as I have been doing over the last year with appearances at assembly
and senate hearings.
I, even recently got an email concerned that my political activities
could jeopardize non profit religious status, so "I should be careful."
Guess what?! "I serve God, not status."
If forming a congregation of believers that are politically active
prohibits tax exemption, so be it. I am building a State Wide Church, right
now we have 162 Broadway, Long Branch, New Jersey in our corporate
possession to use. I need help preparing the facility for meetings. It
would be nice to meet trades people who are looking to be a part of this
movement.
The new testament shows the formation of deacons and elders. This
is the first call, I make today. These will assist in the overall
leadership of the movement. I am also looking to meet someone who has
rabbinical background who also loves Jesus. I want both books preached and
taught from the pulpit.
Worship will be a perfect reason to come together in the temple.
Which requires leadership for the Praise & Worship Team; Any musicians out
there? Those of you not having a church home, did God call you to minister
in your local area? I will help you establish your place in your town.
Give me six months to establish Lighthouse, Long Branch and we will launch
you into your community. Everyone can be a part of this move of the spirit
in New Jersey. Ever time we meet in the building we will broadcast it live
over the world wide web.
Most churches will not become politically active, because of the
fear of government reprisal. I see no reason to keep this from occurring.
Our movement will be politically active, without being part of a corrupted
political will. We will strive to be God's Will in the political
community. So if we have to pay taxes, we will. That will break the bonds
applied to the Church. It will liberate us completely to engage the state
all the way to Trenton. Our members will be encouraged to seek elected
office and we will support them with prayer, fellowship and our hard earned
dollars.
This is an exciting vision. If in your mind and heart you also see
the potential to change the problems of our state, let's do it! As a matter
of fact the anti eminent domain abuse activities I started can be an
important committee of the membership.
In the meantime, we should be meeting for prayer, and give me feed
back to coming together here in 162 Broadway and online for prayer meetings
to start up immediately. Then we can see who the Spirit of God is bringing
together for elders and deacons.
I found it very amusing that Assemblyman Burzechelli's opening
greeting in regard to me before him last Monday was; "Let's give place to
God in this matter." If his remark was sincere or not, is not the
question. He spoke, and I choose to accept it was sincere and at minimum a
cry for help. Many people in elected office are not evil, they just happen
to be stuck in a place where evil has a strong foothold.
It's nice to gather as people. Rallies, walks, talks, seminars and
parties are great fellowship opportunities. We all need them.
Today, as a pastor - I am blowing a trumpet. I am the thunder in
this matter. I am looking for God loving, God fearing and God motivated
people to join with me to build the biggest ministry in the state of New
Jersey.
I already have the building. It need a leadership council to
accomplish the rest of the progress. I am moving forward by the Grace of
Almighty God, because Eminent Domain Abuse is a sure sign that the greed of
the few powerful politicians is attempting to wipe out the little guy and
gals.
Please join me in this move of the spirit. I will help all
community leaders with a true heart to work in the call of God to raise up a
people strong and unified in God to work against political evil and bring
righteousness to the fore front of our state.
Allow me to say, before anyone else, I am not a right wing
anything. I am a declared believer in God. I embrace the teachings of
Jesus of Nazareth, the Gospels, epistles and I have devoted much of my life
to the study of those teachings in comparison to the teachings of Moses and
the Prophets. My doctrinal position is the application of these teachings
to modern social interaction as they apply to a political American society.
I am neither left nor right I am a Centrist with no political party
affiliation. I have been licensed to Preach by a Faith Christian fellowship
Church. (1991) and was Ordained by the Central Baptist District in 1995.
I leave you with this from the Book of Exodus the 20 th chapter:
17 "You shall not covet your
neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his
manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to
your neighbor."
18 When the people saw the
thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke,
they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance
19 and said to Moses, "Speak to us
yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will
die."
20 Moses said to the people,
"Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be
with you to keep you from sinning."
Senator Rice said eminent domain is a tool in the Municipal tool
box to revitalize the cities and towns. He may be right, however It is
being used as a weapon to displace and disrupt good and honest people, as
well as people who have struggled all their lives to simply survive. I want
to prevent it from being used as a weapon to destroy the righteous.
May God strengthen us all to the point of triumph each day, in
each life and in each election.
